Temps to 'Feel Like' Up to 104 Degrees Thursday: Media Reports
Forecasts call for thunderstorms to cool off the region later this afternoon.

Hot enough for you? It’s late July, usually the hottest time of the year in Northern Virginia, and today’s forecasts are calling for temperatures in the 90s this afternoon, with the heat index (the feels-like temp) reaching up to 104.

The heat will be followed by thunderstorms - the Weather Channel says there’s a 50 percent chance of scattered storms later this afternoon in the Fairfax area, for example.

When it’s this hot, it’s best to limit your time outdoors, including scheduling outdoor activities or chores for the early morning or late in the afternoon.
Also, stay hydrated and wear light clothing.
WRC-TV Channel 4 says that thunderstorms will move into the region between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., cooling things down to the 80-degree range. But those storms could produce damaging winds and heavy rain, with isolated power outages and flooding in some areas.
