Victim In Fatal DC Pedestrian Accident Identified As Dumfries Man
Police on Wednesday said Luis Alberto Cespedes-Corrales, 27, of Dumfries was the pedestrian who was struck and killed on I-295 April 3.
WOODBRIDGE, VA — Twenty-seven-year-old Luis Alberto Cespedes-Corrales of Dumfries was identified Wednesday as the victim of a fatal pedestrian accident on I-295 in Southeast Washington, D.C.
According to a news release from the Metropolitan Police Department, Cespedes-Corrales was struck by a white 2021 Toyota 4-Runner driving in the right lane of I-295 northbound, near the Suitland Parkway exit on April 3.
The driver of the SUV told police they saw Cespedes-Corrales standing on the solid white line between the right lane and the shoulder of the interstate. According to the driver, Cespedes-Corrales ran into oncoming traffic.

The driver stopped, called 911, and remained on the scene. MPD officers responded around 7:44 p.m. to the accident scene, along with DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services, but Cespedes-Corrales was pronounced dead on the scene, according to a police news release.
