Virginia Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) recognize local student

Twisha Sinha a student at Centreville High School in Clifton, Virginia was awarded the first-place prize in the Joseph S. Rumbaugh Historical Oration Contest by the Virginia Society of the Sons of the American Revolution at the Society’s annual conference in Glen Allen, Virginia.

The Joseph S. Rumbaugh Historical Oration Contest is open to all students attending 9th through 12th grades in public, parochial or private schools; or home-school students studying at the same grade levels. The preliminary rounds of the contest begin at the local chapter level; students have the opportunity to advance to the state or national levels where scholarships and cash prizes are awarded.

Ms. Sinha was sponsored by the Colonel William Grayson Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) a civic organization serving Prince William County and western Fairfax County. The SAR serves and honors, veterans, first responders, Scouting America, Junior ROTC, and other patriotic, civic, and historical groups and organizations. Membership in the Sons of the American Revolution is open to the lineal descendant of a Revolutionary War soldier, sailor or Patriot. This includes persons who not only fought in the military or militia, but who also may have provided supplies, medical aid, signed oaths of Faith and Fidelity and similar acts.
