VRE Offers Train Ride To See July Fourth Fireworks
For $10, the Firecracker Special will shuttle you to the National Mall in D.C.

The Virginia Railway Express began ticket sales Tuesday for the Firecracker Special, a train scheduled to run on the Fourth of July that will carry riders who want to see the fireworks on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
The Firecracker Special will run on both the Fredericksburg and Manassas lines to Union Station in downtown Washington. Trains will roll north on the afternoon of Saturday, July 4, and return south about an hour after the fireworks end.

Tickets are sold exclusively online for $10 for each person roundtrip (from any station), including all children. Please visit VRE’s Firecracker Special webpage here to purchase tickets via PayPal. (An additional section will show up at the bottom of the page.) Tickets are non-refundable.
The fireworks begin at 9:10 p.m. on July 4. VRE says the trains will drop off passengers at Union Station between 5:30 and 6 p.m., leaving plenty of time for the 20-25 minute walk to the National Mall.
