Water Main Break, Structure Fire Cause Delays: AM Traffic In DC, NoVA

Here are the latest traffic updates that will impact your morning commute on Thursday, July 28.

On the Road

Around 2 a.m., there was a water main break in southeast D.C. Kentucky Ave SE is shut down in both directions from D Street SE to E Street SE.

Around 5:20 a.m., there was a structure fire causing delays on VA-244 eastbound near Gallows Road.

At 7 a.m., there was a crash on the inbound 11th Street Bridge near M Street. Two left lanes were blocked by the crash.

At 7:07 a.m., the left-center lane of I-95 southbound near the Triangle exit was blocked by debris.

At 7:10 a.m., there was a crash on N Glebe Road southbound between 11th Street N and Fairfax Drive. Drivers should follow police direction.

At 7:15 a.m., there was a crash on eastbound Hunter Mill Road past Sunrise Valley Drive.

At 7:20 a.m., there was a crash on eastbound VA-120 past VA-237. All lanes were shut down.

At 7:42 a.m., there was a crash on Connecticut Avenue at Randolph Road. Delays affected both directions of travel.

Throughout Thursday morning, a work zone caused delays on both directions of VA-123 between VA-7 and Follin Lane. The left lane is getting by.

On the Rails

Around 6:30 a.m., there was a disabled train at L'Enfant Plaza causing delays to Greenbelt on the Green Line.

On the Orange Line, the Minnesota Ave, Deanwood, Cheverly, Landover and New Carrollton remain closed through Labor Day due to a summer platform improvement project. Local and express shuttles are available at Stadium-Armory.

Weather

Temperatures on Thursday will reach around 89 degrees, though the humidity will cause a heat index around 99. There's a chance of scattered thunderstorms throughout the region in the afternoon.
