Wet Bandits? Burglar Floods Home in Woodbridge
Wet Bandits? A burglar left a faucet running in a Woodbridge residence, and the home was subsequently flooded: Prince William County Police.

WOODBRIDGE, VA—Remember the so-called "wet bandits" from the 1990 movie "Home Alone" starring Macaulay Culkin? Well, homeowners in Woodbridge arrived at their residence Wednesday in the 2300 block of Kew Garden Drive and found they didn't just have a burglary, but that the house also had been intentionally flooded, according to Prince William County Police.
In the film, Daniel Stern's character, Marv Merchants, would leave the following figurative calling card after a burglary: plugging a drain and leaving the water running to flood the house. "All the great ones leave their mark," he told Harry Lime, played by Joe Pesci. "We're the wet bandits!"
In the Woodbridge incident, police arrived at the scene shortly after 9:30 p.m. and confirmed it occurred sometime between 6:30 a.m. and 9 p.m. They found that a faucet on the second floor had been left running, and that the water overflowed onto the floor and leaked through the ceiling into the first level.

Not only that, but mustard had been squirted onto a wall and part of the floor. Then there was the matter of the burglary itself. Reported missing were jewelry, cash, electronic equipment and devices, as well as clothing. There were no signs of forced entry. Anyone with information is urged to call police at 703-792-6500.
