What's Open, Closed For Labor Day 2022 In Prince William County

Labor Day is a necessary three-day weekend for many Americans. The holiday also changes the hours of many Prince William County facilities.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA — Labor Day represents the unofficial end of summer for many Americans. Those who get the day off of work may use it as a final opportunity to break out the grill, visit the beach, or take a dip in the pool.

In Prince William County, many facilities and services have altered hours due to the holiday. The court system, the landfill, and the school system are among the areas with altered hours.

Students in Prince William County schools even received an extra day off for Labor Day this year. Students did not have class on Friday, Sept. 2 and will not need to be in school on Monday, Sept. 5.

Here is a full list of schedule changes around Prince William County for Labor Day.

  • Prince William County government offices: Government offices will be closed on Monday, Sept. 5.
  • City of Manassas government offices: Government offices will be closed on Monday, Sept. 5.
  • Courts: Circuit Court, General District Court, and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court are closed on Sept. 5.
  • Prince William County Public Schools: Schools and offices are closed on Monday, Sept. 5.
  • Manassas City Public School: Schools and offices are closed on Monday, Sept. 5.
  • Libraries: All Prince William County libraries are closed on Saturday, Sept. 3, Sunday, Sept. 4, and Monday, Sept. 5.
  • Prince William County parks: Most outdoor facilities operated by Prince William County Parks, Recreation & Tourism are open on Monday, Sept. 5. Check online for details.
  • Animal Shelter: The Prince William County Animal Shelter will be closed on Monday, Sept. 5.
  • Post offices: U.S. Postal Service offices are closed on Monday, Sept. 5.
  • Landfill: The Prince William County Landfill will be open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 5.
  • City of Manassas trash & recycling: Trash and recycling services will be on a regular schedule on Monday, Sept. 5.
  • OmniRide: OmniRide busses will not operate on Monday, Sept. 5.
  • Virginia Railway Express: VRE does not provide service on Labor Day.
