What's Open, Closed In Prince William On Presidents Day 2022

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA — Presidents Day arrives on Monday, Feb. 21 in Prince William County. Many local facilities will be shut down or feature adjusted hours due to the holiday.

Courts, schools, and government offices will be closed on Monday. Other facilities, like libraries and landfills, are unaffected. Local transit around Prince William County and the D.C. metropolitan area will be impacted.

The holiday was established decades ago to move celebrations of George Washington's birthday to the third Monday in February. The celebration does not officially include Abraham Lincoln's birthday, which some states celebrate on Feb. 12.

A few of the services that will be closed Monday for Presidents Day include:

The Federal Reserve system won’t be operating, so that means most banks will be closed. ATMs will operate as usual.

The New York Stock Exchange, Nasdaq and bond markets will be closed. So will the U.S. Postal Service.

Here are a full list of local closings and schedule changes to know for Presidents Day 2022:

• Prince William County government offices: Open on Feb. 21.
• Manassas City government offices: Closed on Feb. 21.
• Prince William County Courts: The Prince William County Criminal Court, Clerk of Circuit Court's Office, Civil Division, and Public Service Center will be closed on Feb. 21.
• Prince William County Public Schools: The school district is closed on Feb. 21.
• Manassas City Public Schools: The school district is closed on Feb. 21.
• Manassas City Trash: Manassas City's trash pick-up is not affected by Presidents Day. However, if there is inclement weather, trash pick-up may be delayed.
• Department of Motor Vehicles: The state DMV offices are closed on Feb. 21.
• OmniRide: On Feb. 21, OmniRide express busses will not operate. All other OmniRide services, including local and Metro express services, will operate on a regular schedule.
• Libraries: All Price William County Library branch buildings are open on Feb. 21.
• Metro: Metrorail and Metrobus typically run on a Saturday schedule on Presidents Day. Metrorail service is adjusted due to the 7000-series railcar investigation.
• Post offices: Closed on Feb. 21.
• Recreation centers: Open regular hours on Feb. 21.
• Landfill: The Prince William County Landfill is open on Monday, Feb. 21.
• Virginia Railway Express: VRE will not provide service on Monday, Feb. 21.
