What's Open, Closed In Woodbridge On New Year's Day 2023
In Prince William County and the Woodbridge area, the New Year's holiday changes schedules for government offices and other facilities.
WOODBRIDGE, VA — Another year has come and gone. In Woodbridge and the rest of Prince William County, government facilities and offices will close to allow their workers an extra day off to start the year.
This year, New Year's Day falls on a Sunday. Many government offices and other facilities will remain closed on Monday, Jan. 2 to recognize the occasion.
To help you plan, here's a roundup of what's open and what's closed for New Year's Day in our area:

- Prince William County government offices: Closed on Monday, Jan. 2.
- Prince William County schools: Closed for winter break. Students return to classes on Tuesday, Jan. 3.
- Prince William County courts: Closed on Monday, Jan. 2.
- Prince William County libraries: Dale City, Dumfries, Independent Hill, Lake Ridge, Nokesville libraries will be closed on Saturday, Dec. 31. All libraries will be closed on Sunday, Jan. 1 and Monday, Jan. 2.
- Prince William County landfill: Closed on Sunday, Jan. 1.
- Prince William County animal shelter: Closed on Monday, Jan. 2.
- OmniRide: There will be no OmniRide service on Sunday, Jan. 1.
- DMV offices: Closed on Monday, Jan. 2.
- VRE: There will be no VRE service on Saturday, Dec. 31 or Sunday, Jan. 1.
- Post offices: Some locations may have limited hours on Dec. 31. Check with your local post office. All post offices are closed on Monday, Jan. 2.
- Metro: Metrorail will offer extended hours on New Year's Day. After 8 p.m. on New Year's Eve, all trips will be free.
