What's That Sound? Quantico Plans Rocket, Missile Training

QUANTICO, VA — Residents in Woodbridge and Stafford may hear more explosions than usual in the coming days. Marine Corps Base Quantico said marines will be training with mortars, grenades, missiles, and rockets through April 9.

In an update posted to Facebook, Marine Corps Base Quantico said that training would be almost continuous. Residents near the base can expect to feel vibrations, see flashes, or hear gunshots while training takes place.

Here is the full schedule for live-fire training at the base through April 9:

• March 31, 6 a.m. - 6 p.m.
  • Live Fire Mortars, Missiles, Rockets, Small Arms
• April 1, 7 a.m. - April 2, 3 a.m.

• April 2, 7 a.m. - April 3, 3 a.m.

• April 4, 6 a.m. - 6 p.m.

• April 5, 6 a.m. - midnight

• April 6, 6 a.m. - midnight
