Window Smashed To Rescue Child In Locked Vehicle: Police

A mother left her 1-year-old child inside a locked vehicle for about an hour Thursday afternoon outside Rippon Middle School: PWC Police.

WOODBRIDGE, VA—A mother left her 1-year-old child inside a locked vehicle for about an hour Thursday early afternoon outside Rippon Middle School at 15101 Blacksburn Road, according to Prince William County Police. A school resources officer was alerted, and she used her baton to break a window and rescue the crying child, who was treated and released by rescue personnel.

The mother, Nataly Landina Garcia-Sandoval, 30, of the 1800 block of Bel Air Road in Woodbridge, was charged with felony child neglect. The child was released to the custody of a family friend. The mother left the child asleep in the vehicle while she was attending an event inside the school.
