Winning $225K Lottery Ticket Bought By Woodbridge Man

A Woodbridge man won $225,000 in a Virginia Lottery scratch-off game.

WOODBRIDGE, VA—When Ladarren Smith of Woodbridge scratched off the appropriate portion of his Virginia Lottery "In the Money" ticket, he had something of a delayed reaction to what he saw.

"I spaced out for a second," he told lottery officials.

"Then I screamed."

Do tell. That's because Smith found he had just won a cool $225,000 with the ticket he bought in a 7-Eleven at 13990 Jefferson Davis Highway. The information technology contractor said his primary plans for the extra cash are to pay bills.

His odds of winning the top prize—the third of three—were 1 in 1,060,800.
