Woodbridge Woman Who Killed 3 Family Members, Herself Identified

Police have released the names of a Woodbridge woman who police said killed her husband, his mother, and then herself. A child also died.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — Prince William County police have released the names of a Woodbridge woman who police said killed her husband and mother-in-law, and then herself. A 2-year-old boy who was the son of the suspect was also killed by his mother, authorities said.

The domestic-related murder and suicide occurred inside a residence in the 3400 block of Vale Court in Woodbridge on Saturday. Autopsies conducted confirmed all four family members died from knife-related injuries and the likely murder weapon was recovered.

On Monday, police said investigators believe Ziyi LU, 35, of Woodbridge, fatally attacked her mother-in-law, Kegang Xie, 69; her husband, Danxiong Gao, 40; and their 2-year-old son, all of Woodbridge. Lu then took her own life, police said.

Because of his age, police are not releasing the name of the child who was killed.

Police were called to the family home just after 8 a.m. Saturday, and found all four residents dead from stab wounds.

There is no active threat to the surrounding community, officials said.
