World Trade Center Beam Transport May Cause Delays on Interstate 95
As man as 1,500 motorcycles and support vehicles may be accompanying the truck Saturday afternoon.

The transport of an I-beam from the World Trade Center is expected to cause delays Saturday afternoon in the area as a motorcade of up to 1,500 motorcycles and support vehicles head south on Interstate 395 and Interstate 95.
A New York City fire truck will be carrying the I-beam to the Marine Corps Museum at Quantico, according to a Virginia Department of Transportation release.
The convoy will be using HOV lanes along the route, which were already scheduled to be closed this weekend for I-95 Express Lanes construction. Near Dumfries, the truck will exit the HOV lanes on a newly constructed flyover to merge with traffic briefly until it reaches the exit to the museum.

Traffic delays are expected along the route from 3-6 p.m. VDOT will close the right regular lane of I-95 South near the merge and close the Joplin Road exit ramps in both directions. Route 1 traffic will also be delayed as the motorcade arrives at the museum.
