Young Children Left Unattended In Woodbridge Child Neglect Case

Prince William County Police have charged a father with child neglect as two young children were found alone.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — A 23-month-old child and 3-year-old were discovered alone in a child neglect investigation in Woodbridge Monday, according to Prince William County Police.

Police had responded to the High Pointe at Rippon Landing Condominiums in the 15600 block of Weathervane Trail around 6:59 p.m. Monday. Neighbors had found the 23-month-old boy sitting in the stairwell unsupervised. The neighbors found the door of the boy's home locked, with no one answering the door.

Once neighbors called police, fire and rescue entered the home and found a 3-year-old boy sleeping while unsupervised.

The police investigation determined the 23-month-old boy and a 3-year-old boy were left alone for an extended period of time by their father. During the investigation, the father returned to the home. Police say he was intoxicated when he arrived.

Ever Pleitez-Martinez, 32, of Woodbridge, was arrested and charged with felony child neglect and one count of DUI. He was held without bond, and a court date is pending.
