2 Puget Sound Cities Tops For Car Theft: Report
A new report highlights two Puget Sound cities for being particularly unsafe for cars.

KENT, WA - Two Puget Sound cities have been ranked among the top 10 in the U.S. for car thefts by ASecureLife.com, a security information site. Kent and Tacoma have an auto theft rate of about 5 cars per 1,000 people, according to the list.
The list ranked the 20 top cities with populations over 100,000 in the U.S. for car theft. The top ten includes cities from just four states - Washington, California, Oregon, and Missouri. The most-stolen cars were the Honda Civic and Accord, according to the report.
Car thefts in Kent actually fell between 2016 and 2017 - but the 2017 auto theft rate was still the third-highest since 2008, according to the department's 2017 annual report.
