5 From Tacoma Family Killed In Mexico Crash
A friend of the family said the family's van was hit by a drunk driver in the state of Guerrero on Friday.

TACOMA, WA - Five members of a Tacoma family were killed in a horrific crash in the state of Guerrero in Mexico Friday night. In total, 10 people died in the crash, and two other members of the family were critically injured.
The family was traveling between Acapulco and Zihuatanejo on Friday in a van. Their vehicle collided with another vehicle and a motorcycle.
According to reports, husband and wife Gaspar Gomez, 46, and Maria De Los Angel Gomez, 45, died in the crash as well as their daughter, Denisse Gomez Gonzalez, 26. Two of the Gomez' grandchildren, Alexa Zuniga Gomez, 1, and David Zuniga Gomez, 6, also died.

The Gomez' son, Geovany, 18, and a third grandchild, Luis Angel, 8, were critically injured in the crash.
Five other people died in the crash, including the driver and co-driver of the van the Gomez family was riding in. Two people on the motorcycle, ages 34 and 27, and the driver of the third vehicle also died. Guerrero media outlets reported the vehicles were all engulfed in flames after the crash.

A friend of the family, Natasha Islas of Auburn, has set up a fundraiser. Islas said that a drunk driver caused the crash.
"On Friday December 29, 2017 approximately at 11:26pm a drunk driver speeding at excessive speeds hit a van head on in that van was my best friend Denisse Gomez her mom and dad, 3 young children ages 1, 6, and 8 years old and her brother 18 years old along with 2 other motorcyclist all died but her brother and 8 year old son when the cars exploded. Luckily there were good Samaritans that were able to get the 2 out just before the vehicle exploded," she wrote on the fundraiser page.
Islas is hoping to raise $10,000 to cover medical and funeral costs for the family.
