As most Puget Sound residents know, the Cascadia Subduction Zone poses a serious threat to the region. The zone is where the North America and Juan de Fuca tectonic plates meet. At some point in the future, that section will rupture, which can create an earthquake up to a magnitude 9, plus a tsunami that would hammer the Pacific Coast.
