6 Sick With Salmonella From Tainted Cucumbers: DOH
The cases are spread across Puget Sound and linked to cucumbers sold at Costco, according to state health officials.

SEATTLE, WA - At least six people across Puget Sound have been sickened with salmonella linked to English cucumbers sold at Costco, according to state health officials. The cucumbers were sold in packs of three Aug. 18 and Sept. 10 at various Costco stores.
There have been one case each in King, Snohomish, Thurston, and Pierce counties, and two cases in Yakima County. The last illness was reported on Sept. 15.
Health officials advise anyone with the Costco cukes to throw them away. Salmonella is potentially deadly, and typical symptoms include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, and chills.

News of contaminated cukes comes as two local companies have recalled products due to bacteria. Taylor Farms Northwest in Kent recalled pork carnitas bowls with tomatillos that might have salmonella or listeria. Portland-based Mary’s Harvest Fresh Foods recalled prepackaged salads due to corn possibly contaminated with salmonella and listeria. the Mary's Harvest products were sold at Trader Joe's in Washington and bear the establishment numbers "P-39928” or “40310-M."
