85-Year-Old Arrested After Roommate Killed, Another Injured

Federal Way police said two women were attacked by their roommate, leaving one dead and another wounded by gunfire.

FEDERAL WAY, WA — Federal Way police have arrested an 85-year-old woman suspected in the death of one roommate and the shooting of another. Police said a 911 call came in Thursday morning from a woman reporting she had been shot on the 2000 block of Southwest 306th Lane.

When officers arrived, they found one woman dead, with injuries related to blunt force trauma, and a second woman in the house with a gunshot wound. She was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive. Both victims were described as women in their 30s.

Police said the woman who called 911 named her 85-year-old roommate as the person who shot her. According to officers, the suspect attempted to harm herself after the crime, but she survived and was arrested. Detectives are still working to learn exactly what happened, and a motive is not yet known.
