Air Quality Warning For Puget Sound: Unhealthy For Kids, Elderly

Smoke from wildfires burning in British Columbia has made the air in Puget Sound dangerous for some groups.

SEATTLE, WA - The Puget Sound Clean Air Agency has issued a warning to Puget Sound residents: it's best to stay indoors Tuesday to avoid unhealthy air. Smoke from fires burning in British Columbia has drifted into the region and might stick around through Wednesday.

As of Tuesday morning, air quality was listed as "unhealthy" for sensitive groups - that includes children, the elderly, pregnant women, and people with respiratory conditions like asthma. Air quality is rated at unhealthy in Snohomish, Pierce, King, and Kitsap counties.

For healthy adults, the air quality is rated at "moderate" - poor enough that the PSCAA recommends against strenuous outdoor activities.
