SKOKOMISH, WA — You'd think this bear would want to stay away from cars after what he went through.

A black bear was hit by a vehicle along SR 101 in Mason County on July 4. But the bear was apparently unharmed, because he was able to wander over and peer into the window of a Washington State Patrol trooper's car right after the collision.

The trooper and others at the scene snapped a few quick photos of the curious bear before it wandered back into the woods.

"Luckily, there were no obvious signs of injury to the bear. After telling their side of the story, the bear refused aid and wandered back into the woods," Trooper Chelsea Hodgson wrote on Twitter.

The collision happened along SR 101 near Purdy Cutoff Road just north of Shelton.
