Body Found Near Neah Bay Identified As Missing Man

The body was found along the shoreline near the western tip of the Olympic Peninsula last Wednesday.

NEAH BAY, WA - A body found last week in the water near Neah Bay has been identified as a missing Kitsap man, according to the Peninsula Daily News. Stanley Okumoto had been reported missing in September.

The body was found by a local citizen who was looking for sea otters. An officer from the nearby Makah Indian Reservation was the first on the scene. State patrol, the U.S. Coast Guard and the Clallam County Sheriff's Office assisted in retrieving the body.

The body was discovered at milepost 4-1/2 at the western end of SR 112. On Sept. 20, a search team was looking for Okumoto near milepost 6 along SR 112. Okumoto's 2002 Ford Escort was located near where the body was found.
