Bomb Threat Prompts Evacuation Of Washington Capitol Building
A WSP bomb squad responded to the Capitol Campus in Olympia Monday after someone phoned in a threat.

OLYMPIA, WA — The legislative building was evacuated and closed Monday afternoon after someone called in a bomb threat to the Capitol Campus in Olympia, according to Washington State Patrol. WSP said the phone call was placed around 3 p.m, and everyone in the building was sent home early due to safety concerns. A WSP bomb squad conducted a full sweep of the property to verify everything was safe. Nothing suspicious was found inside, and investigators cleared the building for re-entry just before 8 p.m.
Northwest News Network reporter Austin Jenkins reported Monday's unplanned closure of the legislative building was the second in three days. According to a WSP news release, a 40-year-old Chehalis man was arrested for assault following a clash between protesters during an non-permitted gathering outside the building Saturday.
