Cat Killer In Thurston County: 13th Animal Found Mutilated

The thirteenth dead cat was found as a new police task force convenes to catch the killer.

OLYMPIA, WA - Thurston County has convened a police task force to stop the cat mutilations that have been going on for months. But the killer struck again this week, leaving a thirteenth mutilated cat in an area north of Olympia, according to reports.

The cat killer has been at work in Thurston County since at least February, according to police. The killer typically leaves a victim in public view. PETA and The Human Society have increased the reward for the killer's capture to $36,000.

Investigators from Olympia police and the Thurston County Sheriff's Office were in a meeting about catching the killer on Thursday when the latest victim was found, according to SeattlePI.com.

Last Wednesday, two cats were found mutilated in one day. Since one of the cats was found in unincorporated Thurston County, the sheriff's office assigned a detective from the major crimes unit to the case.

Thurston County Sheriff's Detective Ben Elkins told the Associated Press that the killer will be caught eventually.
