3 Southbound Lanes Reopen After I-5 Crash Near Olympia
Backups built on Interstate 5 Thursday afternoon after a large crash involving several vehicles blocked all but one southbound lane.

OLYMPIA, WA — A serious crash on Interstate 5 blocked three southbound lanes near Boulevard Road Southeast, between Lacey and Olympia, Thursday afternoon. The Washington Department of Transportation said backups stretched past Carpenter Road by 2:40 p.m. Washington State Patrol said five or six vehicles were involved, including one semi-truck. According to Lacey Fire District 3, two people were taken to Saint Peter Hospital as a result of the crash.
According to WSDOT data, travel times from Tacoma to Olympia topped one hour at 3:30 p.m. The crash scene fully cleared shortly after 4:30 p.m.
