Crews Fight Car Fire On Interstate 5 Near Federal Way
Another crash on northbound Interstate 5 blocked three northbound lanes Thursday afternoon.

FEDERAL WAY, WA — A rough day on the roads continued in Federal Way late Thursday afternoon after a car caught fire on northbound Interstate 5, south of State Route 161. Transportation officials said three northbound lanes were blocked near the SeaTac Rest Area shortly before 4:30 p.m. Backups in the area reached three miles before all lanes were reopened shortly after 5 p.m.
The incident followed two earlier crashes in Federal Way Thursday, including a collision involving five vehicles and a serious injury. Resulting northbound backups stretched up to ten miles for several hours.
