PARKLAND, WA — Pierce County investigators have arrested a suspect in the hit-and-run crash that killed a Parkland grandmother Saturday night. Deputies were called to 138th Street South and Yakima Avenue after a white van crashed into a Ford Escape. The driver of the Escape, a 69-year-old woman, died in the collision. Investigators said she lived just two blocks from the scene.

Q13 News reports the victim, identified as Patricia Williamson, left behind six children and 15 grandchildren. Family and friends gathered to remember her Sunday night.

Charging documents filed Monday afternoon identified the suspect as Daniel Fullerton, a 30-year-old man from Spanaway. According to prosecutors, a witness told investigators the van's driver called someone after the crash. A few minutes later, another van arrived and the man inside helped the suspect remove items from the crashed van before both men left the scene.

Prosecutors said Fullerton's mother drove him to the hospital Sunday afternoon, then contacted law enforcement trying to locate the van. Investigators interviewed medical staff who reported Fullerton said he did not remember anything, but thought he was involved in an accident the night before.

During an arraignment hearing Monday, the judge set bail at $100,000.
