Freight Train Derails, Spills Soybeans Along Tacoma Waterfront
Northbound lanes of Schuster Parkway were closed after a train derailed in the Stadium District Thursday night.

TACOMA, WA — Northbound Schuster Parkway was closed for several hours Friday after a freight train derailed along the Tacoma waterfront late Thursday. The News Tribune reports four train cars derailed, and two tipped over, spilling their load of soybeans near Schuster Parkway and South Fourth Street, in the Stadium District.
The train was traveling at low speeds when the derailment happened, and it was not immediately clear what caused it to leave the tracks. As the investigation and cleanup efforts continue, all northbound traffic will be diverted at South Fourth Street for several hours. According to KOMO News, there were no reported injuries.
Still working on the train issue, please divert around northbound Schuster Parkway. It will be a few more hours. pic.twitter.com/mUw3bzyTT8
