Hood Canal Bridge Reopens After High Wind Closure
The Washington State Department of Transportation closed the Hood Canal Bridge Tuesday morning. after waves started to hit the road.

HOOD CANAL, WA — The Hood Canal Bridge (SR-104) was closed to all traffic Tuesday morning after high winds propelled waves onto the roadway. WSDOT posted two photos on social media showing waves crashing over the bridge, about 30 feet above the waterline. The closure began at 8:46 a.m.
Road crews reopened both directions just before 11 a.m. after conditions improved. WSDOT said another closure would be possible, should high winds return to the area. The bridge connects the Olympic and Kitsap Peninsulas, running between Kitsap County to the southeast and Jefferson County to the northwest.
Here's another look before we closed the span to vehicles. The waves were crashing onto the driving surface of the bridge about 30-feet above the water. pic.twitter.com/4kombz0tIK
