Hiker Dies After Falling Off Cliff In Cascades

The 64-year-old woman fell Wednesday while hiking along the Pacific Crest Trail north of Snoqualmie Pass.

SNOQUALMIE PASS, WA - A 64-year-old woman fell approximately 100 yards off a cliff along the Pacific Crest Trail in the Cascades Wednesday. Authorities reported just before 3 p.m. that the hiker died as a result of the fall.

The incident happened near Kendall Katwalk, a hike that includes some narrow passages along rocky cliffs. The trail is about three miles northeast of Snoqualmie Pass.

The incident was first reported around 12:30 p.m. when rescue teams from Issaquah, Bellevue, the King County Sheriff's Office, and Snoqualmie Pass headed to the scene. The search crews were in the process of recovering the woman's body Wednesday afternoon.
