Homeless Man Is 4th Drowning Victim In Snohomish County In 2018
The Tuesday drowning comes about a week after a man drowned farther upstream at Eagle Falls.

GOLD BAR, WA - A homeless man in his 30s drowned Tuesday in the Skykomish River near the Big Eddy water access site off US 2. That was the fourth drowning in Snohomish County so far in 2018, and the second since Memorial Day.
According to the sheriff's office, the man was seen "acting erratically and trespassing" near the Big Eddy access site, about two miles east of downtown Gold Bar. Police responded, but determined the man was not threatening anyone. He was seen leaving the area around 2 p.m.
About two hours later, witnesses called 911 to report that the man had jumped into the river and was in distress. His body was found around 5:30 p.m. downstream from the Big Eddy area.

The drowning comes after Junior Silva, 30, of Monroe, drowned on Memorial Day near Eagle Falls along the Skykomish. Two others have drowned this year in the county:
- April 24: a 30 year-old Bothell woman went into the water at Wallace Falls State Park and her body was recovered the same day.
- April 12: a 22 year-old Monroe woman went into the water at Cedar Ponds and her body was recovered on April 21.
