King County Health Practitioner Suspended After Sex Allegation

State health officials have suspended the license of Bakari M. Nkosi after he allegedly had sex with a patient.

TUKWILA, WA - The state Department of Health has suspended the licenses of a health practitioner after he allegedly had sex with a patient.

Bakari M. Nkosi, who was licensed as a counselor and nursing assistant, was suspended March 9 after state officials accused him of sexual misconduct on the job. According to the charges, the incident happened at the Sound (formerly called Sound Mental Health) facility along Southcenter Boulevard in Tukwila.

The patient was sent to Nkasi in October 2017 under court order to undergo substance abuse and anger management treatment. On Nov. 28, Nkosi allegedly took the patient to an unmonitored area of the Sound facility saying, "I picked this room because it does not have cameras in it." He then allegedly fondled himself and had sex with the patient.

Following an investigation, state officials in early March suspended his credentials. Sound spokesman Steve McLean confirmed Nkosi was employed there, but he is "no longer an employee." McLean could not comment further on the allegations citing the state's ongoing investigation.
