Ladder Impales Washington School Bus: WSP
One person was injured when an unsecured ladder flew off a vehicle and hit a school bus in Mason County.
MASON COUNTY, WA — An unsecured ladder flew off a vehicle in Mason County Wednesday morning and hit a school bus. A rung from the ladder pierced a window in the middle of the bus, but there were no students on board.
The ladder also hit the front of the bus, leaving the bus driver with minor injuries from broken glass, according to Washington State Patrol.
Unsecured loads cause hundreds of accidents every year in Washington, according to WSDOT. There were about 170 in 2017, according to the most recent data, and 16 of those resulted in injuries.

Fines for an unsecured load violation start at $228.
"We can't say it enough: secure your load," WSP Trooper Chelsea Hodgson wrote on Twitter about the school bus incident.
