Legs Crushed, Car Crumpled: Pierce County Men Survive DUI Crash

The 21 and 28-year-old men were lucky. They were seriously injured, but they survived this horrific crash.

EATONVILLE, WA - Just before 2 a.m. Sunday, a man living along Eatonville Cutoff Road heard the sound of a car crashing near his home. Off in the woods, he could hear someone screaming that his legs had been severed.

When Pierce County deputies arrived at the scene, they found two men, ages 21 and 28, trapped in a pickup crumpled beyond recognition. Both men were seriously injured, but they were lucky - their legs had only been crushed in the wreck, not severed.

Their pickup, which was littered with Rolling Rock beer cans and marijuana paraphernalia, had slid across the road into a stand of trees. Police observed one of the men slurring his speech, admitting that he had only a "couple of" beers.
