Man Attacked With Machete Raising Money For Medical Care

Ryan O'Dell interrupted two men attacking a homeless person. Then he became a victim.

Ryan O'Dell, 39, is recovering after the attack on Wednesday night. O'Dell was walking near Southwest 148th Street and 1st Avenue in Burien when he came across two drunk men attacking a homeless person and his dog. When O'Dell interrupted the attack, the two man, ages 25 and 30, turned on him.

O'Dell's health insurance won't cover the cost of his recovery, according to his GoFundMe fundraiser.

"He will be able to use his arm but it will be very weak for some time and may not have full strength. He isn't quite ready to walk and stand and will need physical therapy. Not having proper insurance they are already trying to discharge him. And unfortunately he doesn't have a proper place to heal," the fundraiser page says.
