Mayhem On I-5: 9 Vehicles Crash, Highway Closed For Hours
The Sunday night crash caused a major mess on I-5 near SR 16.

TACOMA, WA - A massive crash involving nine vehicles - including two semitrailers - shut down I-5 in Tacoma Sunday night. The crash happened around 11:30 p.m. last night, but northbound I-5 lanes didn't reopen until 6 a.m. Monday.
According to preliminary reports, a semitrailer heading southbound along I-5 near the SR 16 interchange crashed into a jersey barrier, pushing it into the northbound lanes. That caused eight other vehicles to crash in the vicinity.
In addition to the crash, there was a diesel fuel spill from one of the trucks.
