Arrest Made In Deadly Kent Carjacking

Jered Sperling, 38, was reported missing earlier this week. Police found his body at a Kent apartment complex on Tuesday.

KENT, WA — Kent police have made an arrest in the case of a carjacking that turned deadly earlier this week.

Kent police responded to an apartment complex around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday and found Jered Sperling, 38, shot to death. Sperling had been reported missing on Monday.

According to Kent police, Sperling was car-jacked Monday night as he left a storage facility along South 240th Street in Kent's East Hills neighborhood. On Tuesday, Kent police released images of two men who are possibly connected to the car-jacking.

On Wednesday morning, police said they arrested a 23-year-old Kent man in connection to Sperling's death.

“We want to thank every person who called in tips,” Kent police said in a statement. “This is a very tragic case that has rocked everyone to the core. Our deepest condolences remain with the family and friends of Jered Sperling.”
