Monday Brings Heavy Rain, Gusty Winds And River Flooding
Steady rains into Tuesday may cause several rivers in our area to reach flood stages.
SEATTLE, WA — Heavy rains forecasted into Tuesday could potentially raise water levels in seven rivers past the flood stage, according to the National Weather Service. Projected rainfall amounts for Monday into Tuesday include up to four inches in parts of the Olympic Peninsula and the Cascades. In the metro areas, Seattle and Tacoma could both see an inch of rain. A flood watch is in effect for several counties, including King and Snohomish, until Tuesday night.
According to the NWS, the Calawah, Bogachiel, Stillaguamish, Skykomish, Snohomish, Snoqualmie and Tolt rivers could all potentially reach flood levels. Flooding impacts are expected to be minor.
As with a few other recent wet systems, Monday's will also pack some wind. Seattle, Tacoma and North Bend are all looking at 20-25 mph gusts. Paradise, White Pass and parts of the coast could see gusts in the 40 mph range. Forecasters say rain will stick around Tuesday, but Wednesday and Thursday are looking dry.
