North Cascades Highway Opening This Week, WSDOT Says
Perhaps the most beautiful roadway in Washington reopens this week, granting access to North Cascades National Park and the Methow Valley.
CONCRETE, WA — Highway 20 across the North Cascades will reopen this week, according to WSDOT, granting Western Washington residents access to the North Cascades National Park and the Methow Valley.
Highway 20 closes in late fall due to snow, and it usually doesn't open until late spring. But this year, WSDOT is opening the highway at the earliest point since 2015. The state closes the highway between milepost 134 and milepost 198.
The highway will reopen at 9 a.m. on Thursday, according to WSDOT. As of Monday, crews were still clearing the roadway, which was inundated with snow for much of the winter.

We have an answer to one of our most-asked questions this time of year: The SR 20 North Cascades Highway will swing open its gates for the season at 9 am Thursday! Still a little more work to do but this is the earliest opening since 2015. Great work, crews! pic.twitter.com/JjeNAQaTn3
