Olympic Peninsula Hit By Strong Earthquake: PNSN

The quake hit around 3 a.m. Monday and was felt as far away as Seattle and Gig Harbor.

PORT ANGELES, WA - A strong earthquake hit the Olympic Peninsula early Monday morning. The magnitude 4.1 quake hit smack in the center of the Olympic National Park, but was felt as far away as Seattle and Auburn, according to the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network.

The quake hit around 3 a.m. No damage has been reported so far. The quake was the largest to hit Washington in several months. However, there have been several relatively strong quakes off the Pacific Coast recently.

On Nov. 15, a cluster of five quakes hit off the Oregon coast due west of Medford. Those quakes ranged in size from 3.5 to 4.1. On Nov. 3, a 4.3 quake hit off the coast of Vancouver Island.
