Parkland Woman Shoots Home Intruder
A woman shot and injured a teen burglary suspect who allegedly broke into her home.

PARKLAND, WA - A woman shot a 16-year-old who broke into her home 118th Street home early Saturday morning, according to the Pierce County Sheriff's Department. The woman said she had been asleep but was woken shortly after 3 a.m. when her dogs started barking.
She armed herself with a handgun and went to investigate a scratching sound and found the person who had broken into her home. She told him to stop coming toward her but he did not stop, according to police. She then fired a warning shot, which still did not stop the suspect. She then fired a shot striking him in the arm.
The suspect collapsed in the front doorway of the home. The woman told deputies that he repeatedly yelled "I'm so high!"

Police found a bullet hole in one of the home's windows, which they presume is from the warning shot. A front bedroom window is open, and police believe this is how the suspect entered the home.
The suspect will be charged with residential burglary when he is released from the hospital.
