TUKWILA, WA - Tukwila police officers pulled a woman who was sitting over an I-405 overpass to safety this week. After the rescue, the woman told officers she was contemplating suicide.
The incident happened Monday afternoon along the 66th Avenue bridge, which crosses I-405 from Southcenter Boulevard to Tukwila Parkway.
When officers arrived, the 31-year-old woman was sitting with her back to them. Tukwila officer Erwin Mackie began to approach, calling out to the woman. When she didn't respond, he ran and grabbed her.

After she was pulled off the bridge, the woman told officers, "I just don’t want to feel anything." She was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
This isn't the first time Tukwila police were caught on camera in this situation. In 2017, Tukwila and Kent officers held onto a man who tried to jump off the parking garage at the Southcenter Mall.
