Wind Advisory Issued As Cyclone Heads For Puget Sound

The remnants of a cyclone will hit Puget Sound on Saturday. Forecasters are warning of wind gusts up to 45 MPH.

SEATTLE, WA - There's a cyclone headed toward Puget Sound, and it could bring wind gusts from 45 to 60 MPH to some parts of the state. Friday afternoon, the National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for the entire shoreline of Snohomish County.

Maximum winds will hit Saturday afternoon, but could last into Sunday, according to forecasts. Heavy rain will accompany the wind, with up to an inch possible by Monday.

"A strong front will move through the area Saturday morning. The associated deep low pressure system will park just offshore. It will be windy Saturday and Saturday evening with blusterly winds perhaps persisting into Sunday morning," the wind advisory reads.

In addition to that advisory, there's a gale warning in effect Saturday for Puget Sound from Olympia to the San Juans.

The full weekend forecast includes lots of rain:

Saturday: Rain. High near 56. Breezy, with a south wind 13 to 18 mph increasing to 24 to 29 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 38 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Saturday Night: Showers. Low around 45. Breezy, with a south wind around 24 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Sunday: Showers likely. Cloudy, with a high near 53. Breezy, with a southwest wind 23 to 26 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Sunday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 42. Breezy.
