Police were called to the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity Tuesday morning after a student was found unconscious.

PULLMAN, WA — Pullman Police suspect alcohol may have played a role in the death of a 19-year-old Washington State University student found unresponsive at a fraternity house Tuesday morning. Investigators were called to the Alpha Tau Omega house shortly after 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. Officers found a 19-year-old man unconscious and not breathing. Fraternity members performed CPR until medics arrived.

According to police, a preliminary investigation indicated the death was alcohol-related but the Whitman County Coroner's Office will make an official determination. The student has not been formally identified.

According to a press release sent Tuesday, the national fraternity sent representatives to the school to work with chapter members and assist investigators as needed. Counselors were available on-campus to offer students support. Anyone wishing to send condolences can contact the Dean of Students.
