Raw Pet Food Blamed For Kitten's Death, FDA Investigating

The pet food brands Darwin's Natural and ZooLogics have been recalled four times over contamination, according to the FDA.

TUKWILA, WA - The Food and Drug Administration is investigating a Tukwila pet food company over a series of recalls over the last two years. Arrow Reliance, maker of Darwin’s Natural and ZooLogics brand foods, has recalled food four times, and at least six animals have been sickened - including a kitten that died of salmonella poisoning, according to the FDA.

The recalls involved contamination with either salmonella or listeria, illnesses that pets can pass to humans. The most recent recall associated with the company happened Feb. 10 and includes ZooLogics Duck with Vegetable Meals for Dogs (Lot #41957) and ZooLogics Chicken with Vegetable Meals for Dogs.

The FDA is advising consumers not to feed pets this brand of food. For more on the investigation, visit this FDA webpage.
