Katie Phillips Died Helping A Stranger, Now Her Family Needs Help
Katie Phillips, 34, pulled over to help a stranded driver. She died when a hit-and-run driver collided with her.

PORT ORCHARD, WA - Katie Phillips died while doing a good deed. The 34-year-old Belfair woman pulled over along SR 160 south of Port Orchard early Thursday morning to help another woman whose SUV had broken-down along the road. Crouched down beside the broken down car putting air in a flat tire, an unknown driver came by and hit Phillips.
She died at the scene. The unknown driver who hit her didn't stop.
Now, Phillips' friends have started a fundraiser to help the family she left behind.

"Katie was such a beautiful soul and her family deserves all the support we can muster," Joe Grabicki, of Bothell, wrote on the GoFundMe page.
Washington State Patrol is looking for the hit-and-run driver. The car that hit Phillips is described as a gold or champagne-colored sedan. The car might be either a Toyota Camry or Chevrolet Impala. Police say that the vehicle has visible damage to the right front headlight and grill.

The woman Phillips stopped to help, Katy Meeker, 34, of Sequim, was not injured.
As of Sunday night, the fundraiser for Phillips had raised about $7,000 toward its $120,000 goal
