Small Earthquake Hits Washington's Pacific Coast

The quake was one of three above a magnitude 2.5 that have hit the Pacific Coast over the past two days.

COPALIS, WA — A magnitude 3.4 earthquake hit near the Pacific Coast Tuesday morning, according to the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network. It was the third quake above a magnitude 2.5 to hit the Pacific Coast in recent days.

The quake hit at around 4 a.m. at a depth of 21 miles, according to the PNSN. The quake was centered just east of Copalis Beach and northeast of Ocean Shores. The PNSN received reports of shaking from local cities like Aberdeen, Ocean Shores, Montesano, and Quinault.

A magnitude 3.6 quake hit due west of Salem, Ore., along the coast on Monday. A magnitude 2.5 hit near Clallam Bay at the far northwest tip of Washington also on Monday.
