A pilot was pulled to safety by a kayaker after a plane when down near Kent Monday.

KENT, WA — A pilot was rescued by a kayaker after his plane went down over Lake Morton Monday afternoon. According to the King County Sheriff's Office, witnesses reported a plane went down near the middle of the lake, in unincorporated Kent, around noon. Deputies said three witnesses — two men and one woman — quickly kayaked to the plane and were able to pull the pilot to safety. The pilot, a 19-year-old man, was conscious and taken to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition by medics.
Investigators said the plane, a single-engine aircraft, had mechanical issues and lost engine function before the crash.
