Suspect In Roadside Killing Of Good Samaritan Arrested
Katie Phillips, 34, was coming home from her shift at the Washington State Ferries terminal when she stopped to help a stranded motorist.
PORT ORCHARD, WA - State police believe they have found the driver who two weeks ago hit and killed a 34-year-old Washington State Ferries employee who had stopped to help a stranded motorist.
Washington State Patrol spokesman Trooper Russ Winger said Monday that the suspect was arrested on a charge of felony hit-and-run. He is being held in the Kitsap County Jail on $500,000 bail.
Katie Phillips, of Belfair, pulled over along SR 160 south of Port Orchard early in the morning on March 22 to help another woman whose SUV had broken-down along the road. Crouched down beside the car putting air in a flat tire, the unknown driver came by and hit Phillips.

The woman Phillips stopped to help, Katy Meeker, 34, of Sequim, was not injured.
